week 13/14

Audience feedback questionnaire results:

Do you believe you were able to follow the plot/storyline of the film from the trailer?
All of our audience answered yes to this question, meaning that we have created a trailer which sufficiently shows the plot to the audience without giving too much away. We can attract our audience more efficiently because they will want to see them film more if they understand what it is about and can relate to the characters.

In your opinion, did the poster and magazine cover portray the film in the same way as the trailer did?
The majority of people chose yes, this means there is continuity in design and creation of our 3 parts of our project. This is an important factor for our film trailer as it is one of the best ways of getting the audiences interest in the film. If the poster and magazine cover weren't up to a good standard then there would be less people wanting to go and see the film.

Would you pay to go and see the film after watching this trailer?
70% of the people we showed said no, this means that we did something wrong with the trailer. We will try to figure out what we need to do to improve it by looking at the next two questions, there give us there audiences opinions

What did you like most about the trailer?
• The music used was fitting to what was happening in the trailer and it was also quite up to date.
• The beach scenery around the characters was familiar-I could relate more because I knew where you were.
• The pink titles were cute

What did you like the least about the trailer?
• There were random parts that appeared in the trailer,it was slightly confusing. which shows it is made badly
• The fact there was no voice over
Both of the most written answers are above, and we will be ensuring we change these parts of our trailer.

What do you think about the production standard?
60% of people said bad amateur. This was probably due to our editing software, which was slow and skipped all the time. It took us from October until Feburay to edit it but as the softwear wasn't great, it made it very hard to use good effects. This lead to our final product having flashing images of other parts of the trailer in it. We couldn’t see these errors as we couldn’t view the whole product until after we had uploaded the trailer. We will need to edit our trailer again so we can remove these errors.

In our original questionnaire results, the audience wanted a voice over. Do you think the film trailer was still attractive to you without a voice over?
Nobody answered yes, this means that we will need to add some sort of a voice over. Half of the people said it didn’t matter, which lead us to decide that only a small voice over was needed.

What genre would you class this film?
80% of people chose Psychological Romance, which shows our genre was put across our film trailer sufficiently enough for our target audience to understand the genre.

What is your opinion on the relationship between the main characters? Did it make you want to watch the film more?
• I think it was lovely and romantic, and also sad when he leaves. It made me want to find out why he leaves, and what the witch lady had to do with it all.
• I think there was good chemistry between the actors, which adds to the realistic aspect of the film trailer. This makes me want to watch more of the film because I love romantic scenes in films, and it was obvi0us there was going to be some.
• I thought the actors were trying too hard, and it didn’t seem natural, but i would still want to see the film as they storyline entices me.

Did you think the trailer needed more dialogue?
70% of people said no, it needs no more dialogue. We wanted to keep dialogue at a minimum so we could show the story more than make the audience hear it.However you can tell at some parts what the actors were saying, this gave the audience a brief idea as to what mood the actors were in and how they felt. We thought it would entice our target audience more if they could figure out the story for themselves, unlike the usual convention for a trailer which is to give the audience all of the information to persuade them to come and see the film.

Do you think the setting of the sea-side attracts you to the film more?
80% of people said yes, it does attract them to the film more. This could relate to the previous questionnaire where we asked what connotations do you feel relate to the scenery. It aslo helped that it was a nice day at the beach, we managed to shoot the happy scenes when the weather picked up and used the cold dull weather for the sad and angry scenes towards the end of the trailer. The most chosen was “free”, which insinuates our target audience like to feel free, and feel like they can do whatever they want. This is probably related to the physiological aspect of being 16-18yrs old and “growing up” and moving away from home to go to university and being responsible for themselves for the first time, or aspiring to be so.

Do the characters chosen help you relate to the film more?
70% of our target audience said yes, the characters do help you relate to the film more. This relationship between the audience and the characters will help our film trailer become successful, because the actors are in the same age group as our target audience, this helped them to relate to eachother..

ACTION PLAN CREATED FROM AUDIENCE FEEDBACK
• We will be adding a small voice over using the tag line ”When love falls apart at the seams, and for when you just can’t let go” which helps describe the feelings and emotions the girl in the trailer is feeling when her boyfriend goes missing after her “encounter” with the witch lady. This also helps the audience understand better and know what is going on.
• We will be cutting out the skipping parts of our film, so it flows better and it looks much more professional, this makes the audience want to go and see it as it doesn't look cheap and tacky.

Week 11/12

Audience feedback Quesrtionnaires:

As finishing touches are being made to the film trailer at present we have decided to distribute audience feedback questionnaires on our ancillary texts.

First is the poster. As we are allowing feedback to be produced separately so each ancillary text can be viewed as its own entity. So if an audience werent to see the trailer but saw the poster, we would find out whether the poster on its own would attract an audience to see the film.

the same principles apply to the magazine. We obviously needed to use fitting questions in accordance to each ancillary text. That is the reason we designed two seperate audience feedback questionnaires for the texts, for concise results.

Week 10

We chose to use Tom Courcey and Grace Collis as our main actors during the trailer.
Other actors Indcluding lucy Skerritt as the witch and maria Schiavone as the friend.
Extras included passers by however me made sure to not include clear shots of faces for legal reasons.

So far the editing is taking longer than anticipated due to slow software but prgress so far has been good.
We have decided to add music instead of a voiceover. We feel this is more fitting to the genre of film which in turn makes it more drammatic and gripping as a trailer.
