Week 23

Evaluation 4: How did you use media technologies in the construction, planning, research and eveluation process?

week 22

Evaluation 3:

Week 21

This is our altered film trailer. As the sound wasnt working from the first upload. We added another soundtrack that we thought would be fitting to the genre. The music chosen sybolises the love, psychological and grim aspects of the trailer. Although we thought it was fitting the response towards it has been avarage. We feel the slow pace makes it less listeresting to watch and becomes quite tedious as the sound is monotonous and doesnt really change pace with the footage. It seems less appealing to the target audience therefore this will not be our final trailer piece.

Week 20

This is our film trailer near completion we did have a soundtrack of which being a paramore song and Courtney love song which both reflected the pace and theme of the trailer as it progressed. Unfortunately due to copyright purposes Youtube removed the sound although we made sure to display a disclaimer claiming the songs were not our property etc.We will now create a different soundtrack or failing that upload our original video possibly to the video site Vimeo.

week 18

Evaluation 1:

Evaluation 1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? .

The first shots displays a beach prominade. This automatically sets up the location and the mood of the start of the trailer. The sun and sand suggests happiness to the audience The title of the film is Beach Encounter shown in the last slide. This was supposed to be very suggestive as to what the film entails and an indication to the genre of which being a romantic physcological thriller. The setting was decided witihn the our initial ideas. We wanted it to be totally different and look credible as a proffesional film trailer(plus ancillary texts). The location was situated in Hunstanton which is about an hour away from our home town. We had to make arrangements in order to get there for example we travelled by car on a certain day we had free.

In the second shot we see the antagonist characteremerging from the prominade towards the sea. This incinuates to the audience that something mysterious is connected to this character and as we cant see her face this emphasises the mysteriousness. This now sets up part of the genre being pyschological and that there is more to the character/story than at first instance.

The third shots shows the relationship between the main characters. It gives us an idea that the film is based around these two characters and this point is reasurred by the continuous prescence of both of them throughout the trailer. The relationship is clearly a romantic relationship which then sets up the genre for the audience being part romance.Thier costumes are clearly diverse suggesting diverse lifestyles and situations of the characters within the film. This increases the audiences curiousity of the characters which is a main selling point of the storyline.

The fourth shot is a close up shots of the chemistry and rance shown between the two characters. At first we thought this wouldnt look convincing to the audience as the Actor is actually extremely camp. Despite this the editing effects managed to make the chemistry look convincing. The female protagonist character was introduced separately, as was the other female character. This is an underlying message that the two characters will be connected at some point in the film. The male however is introduced with the girls prescence suggesting that he is only the part o the subject within the film (less significant) and this is echoed towards the audience.

The fifth shot shows the embrace of the two characters typical scene in most romances midway throught the film (in this case midway through the trailer). It is usually an iconic part of the film and generally the embrace is used on a film poster. We have decided to do this as is indicates loudly to the audience the genre of the film.

Examples of this are shown below :

Week 15/16

Continued evaluation 1:
We brought with us (on set)a bag full of props we knew our characters would use or potentially use. Such props included were a Vodka bottle, change of clothes, an array of makeup and other props. We obviously had young clothes for our characters as we ar the same ages groups as our characters in the trailer so that wasnt a problem. We brought two cameras with us so we could get shots of the same takes each time we tried to filme. This way we were able toget several shots to choose from in our editing process. The editing is and was a long process and we ecountered many mistake
The sixth and seveth shot contain many special effects in the scene as the witch like chracters warns the female character the camera position rotates and repeats. Time stratching is use to elongate the happiness felt by the characters in the 6th shot.

In the eigth shot the costume has been changed by the main character to show difference in time etc. The costumes used included light colours for the female and dark for the male to show opposition. Our ubdget was also quite low so we had to use our own clothes as we are the same age group and style of those in the movies we adapted to what we had.Other useful props included a vodka bottle, scarf shoes, candles makeup etc.

The last shots show the title and the font for the trailer of which being beach encounter. The title suggests the setting and location and the encounter suggests the story of the characters which will become obvios to the audience. The foont is a pale colour representing the love and freedom aspect of the film.It also is a plain modern font repeated in our filmp poster. This is to get the audience to connect the two togehter and appeal to our target audience.
