week 18

Evaluation 1:

Evaluation 1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? .

The first shots displays a beach prominade. This automatically sets up the location and the mood of the start of the trailer. The sun and sand suggests happiness to the audience The title of the film is Beach Encounter shown in the last slide. This was supposed to be very suggestive as to what the film entails and an indication to the genre of which being a romantic physcological thriller. The setting was decided witihn the our initial ideas. We wanted it to be totally different and look credible as a proffesional film trailer(plus ancillary texts). The location was situated in Hunstanton which is about an hour away from our home town. We had to make arrangements in order to get there for example we travelled by car on a certain day we had free.

In the second shot we see the antagonist characteremerging from the prominade towards the sea. This incinuates to the audience that something mysterious is connected to this character and as we cant see her face this emphasises the mysteriousness. This now sets up part of the genre being pyschological and that there is more to the character/story than at first instance.

The third shots shows the relationship between the main characters. It gives us an idea that the film is based around these two characters and this point is reasurred by the continuous prescence of both of them throughout the trailer. The relationship is clearly a romantic relationship which then sets up the genre for the audience being part romance.Thier costumes are clearly diverse suggesting diverse lifestyles and situations of the characters within the film. This increases the audiences curiousity of the characters which is a main selling point of the storyline.

The fourth shot is a close up shots of the chemistry and rance shown between the two characters. At first we thought this wouldnt look convincing to the audience as the Actor is actually extremely camp. Despite this the editing effects managed to make the chemistry look convincing. The female protagonist character was introduced separately, as was the other female character. This is an underlying message that the two characters will be connected at some point in the film. The male however is introduced with the girls prescence suggesting that he is only the part o the subject within the film (less significant) and this is echoed towards the audience.

The fifth shot shows the embrace of the two characters typical scene in most romances midway throught the film (in this case midway through the trailer). It is usually an iconic part of the film and generally the embrace is used on a film poster. We have decided to do this as is indicates loudly to the audience the genre of the film.
